Company Questions

How long have you been in business?

Bay Area Innovations was incorporated in January of 2008. Collectively, we have over 35 years of combined engineering expertise. Our President, Shawn Best, has been working in the Product Development Industry for over 10 years.

How many employees do you have on staff?

We currently employ 4 engineers full time. All of our engineers have received their degrees from ABET accredited universities. Additionally we have the ability to add engineers as needed through contract to help with peaks in work flow.

Where are you located?

We are conveniently located in Tampa, Florida at the intersection of 50th and Adamo. Our location allows us to easily service the state of Florida. Additionally, with new technology such as Citrix GoToMeeting, we are able to have on-the-fly SolidWorks presentations, and discuss with customers anywhere, anytime, real-time. All the customer needs is a computer and a broadband internet connection.

Services Questions

What services do you provide?

Our offering of services is very broad. In general we focus on Product Design, DesignAnalysis and Technical Publications. Additionally, throughout the last 5 years we have gained a high level of competency in LED Fixture Design and Analysis.

Can you help me with getting my product prototyped?

Yes. We have very good relationships with many prototype vendors. The vendor we choose for you will be dependent on project specifics, part design, and material.

Can you assist with manufacturing?

Yes. We will assist with production tooling, vendor coordination, manufacturing sourcing and transfer to manufacturing.

Are your team members available to meet/work on-site at my facility?

Arrangements can be made to accommodate most customer needs. Let us know what you are thinking and we will do what we can to accommodate.

Quotation Questions

Can you explain a "Fixed-Price" quotation?

A "fixed-priced" bid is where we work with our client to identify a very detailed Statement of Work (SOW) to be quoted on. If a change to the original SOW is required, we must then rebid with that change in mind before proceeding. Many customers prefer a "fixed-price" bid so that they can budget accordingly. Some projects/customers cannot be quoted as "fixed-price" for various reasons. We will let you know if we believe your project/needs fall into this category.

Can you explain a "Time & Material" quotation?

A "time & material" bid is where we quote an hourly rate for the project plus any materials we need during the course of the project (e.g. samples, competitor products, etc.) are the responsibility of the customer. During the development process we often show clients opportunities for improvement. As a result they frequently ask us to take their projects in directions they had not imagined. As a result, "Time & Material" bids are often the best type of quotation for our customers.

How long does it take for me to receive a quotation?

Quotations can normally be supplied within 2-3 days from the date requested. At times, additional information may be required from the customer to ensure an accurate quote of the project/task.
